Celebrating the launch of the fast ferry Mercedes Pinto

A few days ago, the presentation and christening of the Mercedes Pinto fast ferry, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, marked an important milestone for maritime mobility in the Canary Island. This state of the art fast ferry will operate between Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura, reinforcing a key route for residents, visitors, and freight transport.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to Balearia for the launch of a vessel that beautifully combines innovation, comfort, and sustainability to continue strengthening the connection between our islands.

Mercedes Pinto features two Guascor Energy G-24SL gas generator sets of 430 kVA at 50Hz, for the electrical supply of all the vessel’s services, including maneuvers in port. The auxiliary gas generation system is part of an integral propulsion/generation system. For this project, we have supplied also two SF240TA-SG diesel units for auxiliary purposes within the vessel. The whole system complies with the strictest safety requirements certified by Bureau Veritas while the emissions levels are below those required by IMO Tier III (International Maritime Organization).
