Mercedes Pinto has already touched the water

We are very pleased to share our latest project with Astilleros Armón, which is being built for Baleària, the ‘Mercedes Pinto’. This fast ferry has the same characteristics as the ‘Eleanor Roosevelt’ and the ‘Margarita Salas’.

Like the previous projects, it is 128 meters long and 28 meters wide, with a capacity for 1,200 passengers and more than 400 vehicles. Thanks to the use of natural gas, this fast ferry reduces its CO2, NOX, and sulfur emissions.

”Mercedes Pinto” features two Guascor Energy G-24SL gas generator sets of 430 kVA at 50Hz, for the electrical supply of all the vessel’s services, including maneuvers in port. The auxiliary gas generation system is part of an integral propulsion/generation system. For this project, we have supplied also two SF240TA-SG diesel units for auxiliary purposes within the vessel.

The whole system complies with the strictest safety requirements certified by Bureau Veritas while the emissions levels are below those required by IMO Tier III.
