Propane engines for a mine in Chile

Mining is a key sector of the Chilean economy, accounting for around 10% of the country’s GDP and employment. Chile is the world’s largest producer of copper, and also has important deposits of other minerals such as lithium, gold and iron. The exploitation of these resources has allowed the economic development of the South American country, and has made it possible to finance important social and infrastructure programs.

Guascor Energy has supplied six 56SM generator sets to provide electricity to an important deposit in Northern Chile. The 56SM engine is part of Guascor Energy engines specifically designed to work with propane and LPG that are being applied as new resources in the mining sectors, replacing diesel engines in order to reduce environmental impact.

In addition to supplying these SM family based gensets, Guascor Energy has also provided the plant control system.
